Exiled on Island of Patmos with St. John, Day 12

by Steve Ray on November 6, 2014

We used to feel sorry for St. John for being exiled on the Island of Patmos. But once you land on this beautiful island it’s hard to feel sorry for him :-)

Just joking! When John was exiled hear it was a place of banishment and suffering. But today we visited the cave or St. John lived and where he received the revelation which became the last book of the New Testament.

We also visited the Greek orthodox monastery on the top of the mountain looking down over the whole island of Patmos and seeing your ship in the harbor. It was a nice day for everyone with time to shop and eat lunch in the caf├ęs and then back on the ship.

The afternoon and evening were free on the ship except for talks in our Seminar at Sea series. Bishop Conley gave an excellent talk “What Does Athens Have To Do with Jerusalem?” He also told us his story of conversion to the Catholic Church. Bravo!

Then we had a 1 1/2 hour panel discussion where people could ask us all the questions they wanted. It was a lot of fun!

At 6 PM we docked at the Greek Island of Syros. A lot of people got off to have fresh fish dinners and to tour the island. When they came back to the ship we headed off to Athens. Tomorrow we will tour the Acropolis and the Parthenon and visit Mars Hill where St. Paul gave his famous talk in Ask chapter 17.

We will also have some free time in the city of Athens. But we start the morning with Mass at the Athens Catholic Cathedral.

Enjoy the video!

Mr. Ray –

Thank you for your postings. I’m Quinn M’s principal, and have been sharing the updates with his classmates. They look forward to hearing about this wonderful trip from Quinn’s perspective and seeing some of his photographs when he returns to school. Please give him and his family our best.

What a great little island–so much history. Please thank Steve for giving us several good glimpses of you. You’re all looking good. We miss you.

Your adoring sister from the hills of West Virginia,

Thanks for Sharing…
I presume Steve you didn’t give them lessons on proper manner of walking on water back to the ship! Hahaha

I am amazed that you found time and energy to EDIT with Sound the Video Montage daily!
